About Michael Barber
I’ve spent years working directly with honey bees in the Guelph area, learning how colonies behave, adapt, and survive through Ontario’s changing seasons. Beekeeping has taught me to pay attention to the small details: brood patterns, food stores, queen activity, temperament, mite pressure, weather changes, and the overall rhythm of the hive.
My approach is practical, patient, and observation-based. Every colony is different, and good beekeeping means understanding what the bees are showing you before deciding what they need. I care about maintaining healthy hives, supporting strong pollinator populations, and helping people better understand the important role honey bees play in our environment and food systems.
For me, beekeeping is both a craft and a responsibility. It combines biology, ecology, animal care, and respect for the natural systems that keep our communities growing.
Our approach to beekeeping is guided by respect for nature, dedication to quality, and a deep responsibility to protect our bees and the environment.

I can not say enough good things about the team; we had a swarm move into our house over the course of an hour … 1000+ bees in our walls, as well as some getting into the house. We had Ken out the next day to investigate, and he was able to shuffle things around to come out the day after for removal.
All I can say is that he is dedicated to safely, humanely, and thoroughly remove the bees. Additionally, he was full of information to share with preventative measures.

Tri-City bee rescue helped me recognize that my bees had swarmed and also replaced frames with brood, bees and queen to help them survive over the winter. Very nice to deal with and very knowledgeable about bees and beekeeping.
